In short:"Visual weight is about what your eyes see first. Size, color, layering, contrast, shape — and even framing — all help guide your eyes!"

Size matters!

The bigger it is, the stronger its visual weight — it grabs more attention."

But that’s not all! Many things affect how heavy or important something feels in your artwork:

🌈 Color & Brightness

"The brighter and more saturated it is, the stronger its visual weight."

Bright colors pop out and instantly catch our eyes.

🔲 Contrast

"High contrast means high attention!"

A dark object on a light background stands out much more

🌀 Details & Patterns

"More details = more attention."The more texture or pattern an object has, the heavier it feels visually.

 Shape

"Unusual shapes catch your eye more than simple ones."

Spiky or unique shapes feel more important than basic circles or squares.

📍 Placement"Things in the center or top look heavier."Our eyes naturally go to the center or top first — so these areas feel stronger.

📚 Layering

"Whatever is on top feels heavier — layering adds power to visual weight."

Whether it’s big, bright, dark, or detailed — if it’s on top, it takes the lead!

🖼️ Framing"If an object is framed by other objects, its visual weight becomes much stronger."Your eyes are guided to it. It feels important — like it's being highlighted on purpose.
